Shaping Inclusive Education in Cornwall: Consultation Opens on New School Resource Bases

Consultations open on plans to ensure more learners can access the help they need closer to home.

This week, several schools within Cornwall Education Learning Trust have launched public consultations on plans to create or expand Area Resource Bases (ARBs). These bases support learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

We’d really value your views on these proposals. Your feedback will help inform the Department for Education’s final decision on whether these plans go ahead.

The proposals are part of Cornwall Council’s wider work to increase specialist support for children and young people, so more learners can access the help they need closer to home.

As well as creating additional places, ARBs are designed to share expertise, resources and support across schools, helping to build a more inclusive education system for all learners.

The consultation will be open for three weeks. After it closes, all responses will be anonymised, reviewed and shared with the Department for Education. A final decision is expected in early June, and we will update our communities as soon as possible.

You can find full details of the proposals and links to take part in the consultation on each school’s website:

Thank you for taking the time to share your views. By working together, we can help ensure all children and young people get the support they need to thrive in education.
