This year, Newquay Tretherras is celebrating 90% of A levels at grades A* to C and 97% of vocational grades at Distinction and Distinction*.

Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT) is celebrating an exceptional set of A Level and post-16 results at Newquay Tretherras, with the school achieving its strongest outcomes on record and securing a position among the top 10% of sixth forms nationally.

Students achieved an outstanding 66% of grades at A* to B, with 30% of grades awarded at A* to A and an overall average grade of B.

These achievements were matched by excellent results across applied and technical qualifications, where students attained an impressive average grade of Distinction*-. More than half of all grades achieved were Distinction*, while almost 97% were awarded at Distinction* or Distinction level, placing students among the highest performers nationally.

The results reflect not only academic excellence but also the dedication, resilience and ambition demonstrated by students throughout their time at Newquay Tretherras.

Gemma Harries, Headteacher at Newquay Tretherras, said: "We could not be prouder of this year’s students. Their results are exceptional, but what makes this cohort particularly special is everything they have achieved alongside their studies. Their leadership, character and contribution to school life make them outstanding ambassadors for our school, our community and Cornwall."

At CELT, success is measured by much more than examination results. This year's cohort exemplifies the Trust’s commitment to developing confident, well-rounded young people who are ready to thrive in higher education, employment and wider society.

Alongside their academic achievements, students have embraced a remarkable range of opportunities, including expeditions to Borneo, completing Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards and taking part in the Winter Skills challenge. They have also excelled in sport, with students among the County Football Champions, Team GB surfers, England swimmers and national-level surf lifesaving competitors.

Gemma Harries added: "This group of students have represented their school, their county and their country. They have led others, supported their communities and served as exceptional role models. Their success is about so much more than grades, and we are proud that NT6 has given them the platform to pursue their ambitions with confidence."

Among the highest-achieving students was Dylan, who secured A*A*A in Maths, Physics and Further Maths. He plans to spend a year travelling before progressing to university.
