    St Austell School is Finalist in National Education Awards

    CELT staff and school are finalists in national education awards

    A CELT school in St Austell is a finalist for Secondary School of the Year, a national award for schools that are making a real difference to the lives of young people and their communities.

    Poltair School is one of only nine secondary schools across the country to reach the Education Today finals, reflecting the hard work and dedication of staff and students alike.

    Richard Cardigan, Headteacher of Poltair School, said: "I am incredibly proud that Poltair has been recognised as a finalist for Secondary School of the Year. This shortlisting is a true reflection of the tireless efforts, passion, and creativity of our staff and students, who together make Poltair such a special place.”

    Staff at Poltair School and Bodmin College have also been shortlisted for individual awards including STEM teacher of the year, new teacher of the year, community champion and SENDCo of the year.

    Claire Harvey from Poltair School is a finalist for the Community Champion award, in recognition of her commitment and dedication to supporting young carers across all schools within CELT.

    Lucie Oakley from Bodmin College has made it to the final of the New Teacher of the Year award. Since joining Bodmin College, Lucie has strived to give students new learning opportunities in PE, sport and careers, even setting up a community girls cricket team to ensure students have a place to play outside of school.

    Verity Waters from Poltair School is a finalist in the SENDCo of the year award in recognition of her passion for inclusion and supporting all young people to succeed.

    Head of Maths at Poltair, Deborah Roberts, is a finalist for the STEM teacher of the year award. Deborah is committed to helping students find their love of maths with her impact being reflected in students progress and achievement.

    The winners of the Education Today awards will be announced later this year at a ceremony held in London.
